By Joan Bauer.

Squashed is a hilarious book for teens. Ellie, the main character, struggles to grow her potentially prize-winning pumpkin, Max. She must go up against the ones who doubt her as well as the infamous pumpkin thieves haunting her town. I would recommend this book to all teens.

Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld

In this futuristic story, 15 year old Tally Youngblood is a normal teenager, well, in Uglyville that is. While awaiting her 16th birthday, when surgery will transform her into a Pretty, she meets and befriends Shay, an Ugly who defies authority. After a while spent with Shay, Tally suddenly realizes that being a Pretty might not be so nice after all. But when Shay runs away to the outside world and Tally is left being asked all the questions, she has to decide whether to betray her friend, or not become a Pretty at all.

Animal Farm by Geroge Orwell

The book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell is about dictatorship and a supposed utiopia.
Instead of human characters, Mr. Orwell uses animals as main charaters. Once the animals overthrow the humans, leaderships form and most animals learn to read. The pigs are the smartest (therefore read best and rule all of the animals) , followed by the dogs. There are too many leaders (all pigs) and so the strongest pig (napoleon) eliminates the other leaders. He then forms a dictatorship and rules over all the animals. This book sends a message about dictatorship and utoipa.
I recomend Animal Farm and think is is an excellent book. It is suitable for ages 11 or so to senior and is about 139 pages. Enjoy

by James Patterson

Patterson's first series for teens, Maximum Ride is the story of six kids who are far above ordinary. Raised in a lab, Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy and Angel have wings. Being only 98% human, life is hard for them. After one of their number is captured, they must risk their lives to save one of their own.
This book has become a nation-wide favorite among teens, sparking a reading program, Maximum-Read, among Middle Schools. It is an exquisite book that people of all ages would enjoy, I highly recommend it. The sequel is entitled Maximum Ride: School's Out - Forever. The third in the series will be coming out in 2007, and is entitled Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports.

Hi All!!
Teen Read week went very well. I would like to thank everyone who attended the Teen Advisory Meeting on Thursday October 19. It was a success. Many great ideas came out of it. Currently we have six TAB members and looking forward to welcoming many more. One of the discussion topics on the next meeting will be about who would like to contribute what for the Boxford Teen Newsletter (online). The next TAB meeting is scheduled for November 17, 2006 at 3:45 pm. Food and drinks will be provided by the Friends of the Boxford Libraries. Hope to see you all there!!!
